Hear Me

A Poem by Catherine A. Cowan

HEAR ME

I, am the unheard sound, a heartbeat...

I am hidden from sight, I do not sleep.

I cry to My Master for peace.

My family here, I will never meet.

Blood will be spilt because of me.

Upon the ground of the nation I bleed.

No one gave "me" the choice-

For they listen not for 'my voice'.

My life here- never to be known.

My face unknown- to no one will it be shown.

Swiftly, they come to take my life.

My heavenly Father now, for me, a home and love provides.

I, am nameless.

I, am blameless.

I've never been kissed, hugged, or nutured.

I never had a chance to see my future.

When you hear next.....a heartbeat.

Know, that it also has eyes, ears, flesh, and feet.

Life flows through 'me'.

I am not 'a thing' - I am, a he, or a she.

A gift from heaven to earth-

With a plan- a purpose - a destiny to preserve.

Let not, my blood upon this ground 'be spilled'.

Rather, allow 'me' to love you, and perhaps your heart too will be filled.
