A portal is a doorway, gate, or entrance; it’s the means through which one thing passes from one place to another. In order for something to pass from one place to the next there are laws at work regulating its actions.  For example, when sound travels it does so in the form of vibrations. These vibrations create sound waves that move through mediums such as air and water before reaching our ears.

Sound travels in waves like light or heat, but unlike them, sound travels by making molecules vibrate. Therefore, in order for sound to travel, molecules need to be present for it to travel through. These are the laws of physics at work.

I think we can all agree that the laws that regulate the natural world are the not the same in the spirit. In the spirit realm, sound, energy, and light of God cannot be altered by any natural physics of the universe. In fact, they are the source and regulatory power for all the above. I believe our understanding of “spiritual gates and doors” has been widely misunderstood.

These spiritual porters are not out there somewhere in the spirit, they are in you and me.

David writes,

Psalm 24:7

Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O everlasting doors,
That the King of glory may come in!

Many have viewed gates and doors as one in the same, but they are not. Both are certainly points of entrance, but their actions differ.

Gates, comes from the Hebrew word, “Shaar” which means to split or open. It means to act as a gatekeeper. It literally means to “think.” Thus, the action of “lifting up your head(s)”

Another analogy a gate is in the words of Paul,

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2)

The idea is that when you set your mind on things above you become a gate for the mind of Christ to flow through. You are a keeper of the mind of Christ.

Doors, is the Hebrew word “pethach” which means to open wide or to loosen. It means to be free from every restriction. It literally means that you have been lifted up into eternity where you are able to see with everlasting eyes. Therefore, you become a door of revelation, thus a seer of God that sets the captive free from every earthly restriction.

Again, spiritual portals are who we are; they are the eternal actions of our lives. People who continue to walk in faith, love, peace, joy, and righteousness become gateways for the kingdom of God to manifest. These kinds of repetitive actions will always alter the spiritual climate around you, in your city and state.

Spiritual gates and doors are the result of occupancy. They are the life of the Spirit occupying the hearts and minds of His people. The portals of heaven are from within, not from without.

When I worship the Lord, I am keenly aware that the portals of heaven are opening from within me, thus releasing knowledge of heaven on earth.

This same thing happens exponentially on a corporate level. When the people of God come together, many gates and doors become one huge portal in the spirit. Of course, you don’t have to “worship” God through song to get Kingdom revelation.

We must ask ourselves, what did praise and worship look like prior to sin entering into the world? There were no alters of sacrifice. There were no songs pointing to the forgiveness of sin.

The purest form of worship is your state of being. It is who we are in God. In the Garden, the state of the first man and woman praised and worshiped the Lord non-stop. In our going out and coming in, we are a continual song of praise and worship unto the Lord. Therefore, we are a continuous entrance for heaven to touch earth.

Dean Braxton, who has been on the 700 club and countless other TV shows gives his testimony of dying on an operating table. It was documented that he was as dead as you can get for almost 2 hours before the Lord raised him up. During that time, Dean shares about one of his encounters of seeing Jesus face to face.

“When I looked at Him I knew He was seeing Himself in me. It was as if we were one. Every part of His being loved me. His eyes, His hands, even His feet loved me.”

Wow!  What a vivid reality of knowing that your entire state of being is destined to become living doorway for the love and glory of the Lord to shine through.

The distance between where you are at and where you want to be is diminishing. Not because the things you have been hoping for have changed their position, but because your understanding of them has changed, therefore placing them within your reach.

“Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O everlasting doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.”

(Psalm 24:9-10)
